This collection marks a major transitional period in my life and brings together symbols of renewal that are shared by all peoples and transcend all continents. The Sun, the snake and the ceramic vessel. Brutal and beautiful, burning and biting. Two extraordinary entities that hold beauty and fear so closely intertwined. Two motifs that are now entangled with these clay bodies for an eternity.

The snake lays beneath the burning sun transforming the suns ray into useable energy, resting and preparing, she could take a life with one swift movement.

Vessels from this collection explode with an energy akin to the fiery ball in the sky. Some have been wrapped by protective serpents, that hold safe the life force within, a force that is expressed through an infinity of coloured cotton loops that envelope the surface. Perhaps this is my ritualistic way of protecting the joy in life, that can get stifled by fear.

Each earthenware vessel is meticulously wrapped in nostalgic offcuts of vintage textiles from Sydney based fashion label Re/lax Remade. An explosive textured kaleidoscope of colours that would have gone to landfill but instead they have lived through their own journey of renewal by bringing these forms to life!
